Poërĭo, Carlo, Baron, neapolit. Politiker, geb. 1803 zu Neapel, Advokat, mehrmals wegen seiner polit. Tätigkeit verhaftet, 1848 Minister des öffentlichen Unterrichts, 1850-59 wegen angeblichen Hochverrats in Gefangenschaft, 1861 Mitglied des ital. Parlaments, gest. 28. April 1867 zu Florenz. – Sein Bruder Alessandro P., geb. 1802, gest. 3. Nov. 1848 infolge einer bei Venedig erhaltenen Wunde; patriotischer Dichter. – Vgl. Marx (1868).
